The European Commission, to demonstrate the achieved level of consideration to energy efficiency, 8 March released the text of the communication "Energy Efficiency Plan 2011 . Il documento, strettamente connesso con le strategie europee per il 2020, illustra in dettaglio gli scenari attuali e futuri, e ripete il concetto, casomai fosse sfuggito a qualcuno: "energy efficiency can be seen as Europe's biggest energy resource".
Ecco alcune indicazioni contenute nel nuovo Piano:
- alle pubbliche amministrazioni si suggerisce di rinnovare almeno il 3% dei loro edifici ogni anno e di prevedere l'introduzione di criteri di efficienza energetica negli appalti e di individuare forme di incentivazione alla riqualificazione degli edifici privati;
- migliorare i rendimenti energetici degli elettrodomestici;
- incrementare l’efficienza in the production of electricity and heat;

from Brussels is ambitious: raising the quality standards of everyday life , generating risparmifino to € 1,000 per household per year , while improving the industrial competitiveness of the European Union with consequent implications for employment.
